A cookie is a passive file, which means it cannot collect information from your computer or spread computer virus or other malware.
Some cookies are stored on your IT device only temporarily and they expire when you close your browser (session cookies). Other cookies are stored for a longer period of time (persistent cookies). When you revisit a website, new session cookies will be stored on your device, whereas persistent cookies will typically be renewed.
